If you are looking for a naturopath in downtown Victoria who offers a personalized approach to your health, if you would like more face time with your doctor and if you would like to get to the root of your health concern then naturopathic medicine at Geometry may be the right fit for you. Dr. Lovink and Dr. Crossman are thorough in their assessments, compassionate in their approach, and evidence-based in their diagnosis and treatment.
Naturopathic medicine is a form of healthcare that aims to identify & treat the unique underlying imbalances that are causing your symptoms. While going to see your conventional doctor will help you when you are acutely ill or to diagnose a disease, working with a naturopathic doctor will get you above that “line of fine” to an optimal level of health. I’m sure you’ve had the experience of going to your doctor’s office with a problem, only to be told that “everything looks fine”. And that’s because from a disease or dying perspective, things are likely “fine”. But wellbeing is not about being “fine”, it’s about optimizing all aspects of your health from digestive, to hormonal, to brain and to immune. It’s about individualizing what health means to you. It’s about taking time to understand the whole person. It is personalized lifestyle medicine.
“Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the underlying cause of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, and unfavourable lifestyle habits. Naturopathic Medicine emphasizes disease as a process rather than as an entity.”
By assessing the biological, psychological, and environmental factors impacting a patients health a naturopath can design an individualized treatment plan targeted at the root causes of a patients symptoms. Treatment plans can include but are not limited to dietary and lifestyle interventions, targeted nutrient and mineral supplementation, botanical medication, and IV / injection therapy. Naturopathic doctors also carry prescriptive authority and may prescribe pharmaceutical drugs when necessary.
Dr. Lovink — holds certification in Prescriptive Authority & Intravenous Therapy, which allows her to both manage & prescribe certain medication and administer intravenous nutrient therapy.
Naturopathic medicine is well suited to treating a wide range of health concerns including digestive health problems and female hormone imbalances. While seeing a naturopathic doctor is often prompted out of a health concern, naturopathic medicine is also uniquely suited for those who simply want to optimize their health. Naturopathic medicine can help increase energy, wellbeing, and longevity and reduce future risks of disease.
In seeing a Naturopathic Doctor you can expect a thorough assessment (initial visits are 60 minutes in length), an evidence-based approach to diagnosis and treatment, and a treatment plan that involves an individualized blend of nutrition, supplements, botanicals, and lifestyle counselling
