Direct billing for Massage Therapy in Victoria

If you have extended health benefits, your massage therapy treatment will most likely be fully or partially covered.  We offer the convenience of direct billing at Geometry. To find out if your insurance is authorized for direct billing contact your provider.

How to use direct billing?

After you book an appointment our system will send you an online intake form to fill out. This form will ask some health history related questions and will prompt you for your insurance provider, plan and ID number.  Our office manager will use this information to directly bill your insurance for your treatment.

How much will be covered?

The amounts covered varies greatly depending on the insurance plan, and many plans offer full 100% coverage. Unfortunately not all providers allow us to do a predetermination of coverage (checking in advance to see how much of a treatment will be covered). The best way to find out for sure is to contact your provider directly.  If you are unsure how to go about this please contact our reception for help.

If you are a returning patient we recommend that you arrive at least 5 minutes early to give yourself time to relax and decompress. This will help ensure that you get the most out of your massage.

Sports Massage Therapy

The primary purpose of sports massage is to alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. It is suitable for athletes of all levels from casual gym goers to elite professionals. Sports massage focuses on the prevention and healing of injuries to your muscles and tendons by encouraging the circulation of blood and lymph. Consequently, sports massage can support an athlete for peak performance by reducing muscle tension and inflammation and by increasing flexibility, and range of movement. Sports massage can be divided into four categories:

  1. Pre-event sports massage – To prepare the athlete for peak performance.
  2. Post-event sports massage – To promote healing and recovery after intense physical activity.
  3. Restorative sports massage –To facilitate training intensity and endurance (provided during training).
  4. Rehabilitative sports massage – To relieve the pain and inflammation caused by a sports injury and accelerate healing and recovery.

Every athlete is different with unique needs. Our RMTs can design a personal treatment plan to promote greater athletic endurance and performance, lessen chances of injury, and reduce recovery time.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

Deep tissue massage focuses on deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. The techniques are slower than a traditional relaxation massage, and the pressure permeates deeper target areas of tension and pain.

Chronic muscle tension or injury often involve adhesions “knots” recognizable as bands of painful, rigid tissue. Adhesions can interfere with proper circulation and result in pain, inflammation, and inhibited range of motion. A therapist will use a deep gliding pressure along the length of the muscle fibers or pressure across the grain of the muscle to treat the adhesion and restore circulation. As proper circulation is restored toxins (metabolic waste) that may have built up over time may be released into the blood. To help the body manage these toxins drink plenty of water before and after your treatment.

Deep tissue massage can involve some mild discomfort or pain, but it should never be unbearable. During your treatment, always communicate any pain outside of your comfort range to your therapist so they can adjust the technique to maximize your benefit. It is also common to experience some mild soreness in the following day as your body completes the healing process. This soreness is normal and should subside within a day or two. Deep tissue massage is well suited but not limited to treating chronic pain and injury that involve low back and neck stiffness. Also, deep tissue massage can improve postural problems and increase mobility.

All Geometry therapists offer deep tissue massage therapy in Victoria.
